Whiteboard Energy announces its next in-class session History and Politics and this time it is offered in two locations. This single day course (with pre-loading from Whiteboard’s interactive online learning centre) is offered on Wednesday, 1 October in Wellington and Thursday, 2 October in Auckland. History and Politics is an essential for those executive decision makers in the electricity industry who must transcend the purely technical and economic to get it right. History tells us that electricity is political and history gives us perspective and context. The History and Politics course is underpinned by three key realities:

  • history gives us rich examples of the interaction between the technical, economic and political,
  • history puts our current decision making, and the decision making of others, in a context that might not otherwise make sense, and
  • history does repeat

But the coup de grace of this highly engaging course is the interactive session with the Honourable Pete Hodgson. Pete Hodgson was Minister of Energy and the Opposition Spokesman through the liberalisation of the electricity industry. He is an experienced politician who has duked it out with the best.

This is an excellent opportunity, just after the general election, to understand political policy through political eyes. Bring the questions and the debate and Pete will tell you what you need to know.
